A Love Story. Part 2.

She kept his side of the bed open as if he might return. Made coffee every morning just as he instructed. Strong / solid / delicious. Enough for two. Listen for the change of pitch in the grinder. 2 teaspoons of ground coffee per cup in the french press. a tiny bit of coconut oil. 2 and half teaspoons of coconut sugar per cup… She dreamt of him. Cried for him. Coated her love for him in hatred. Drunk or praying, acting a fool or lighting candles. Went to 3 healers, 1 psychic, started A Course in Miracles, kundalini on Mondays. Singing would make the pain fade, transmute from gray to gold, to black then blue. Music her savior. How high is too high for an energetic fence? He wanted to build a fortress around her. To protect or to own?  Yet he wouldn’t claim what was his. He called her his queen but for his queen he would not fight. She doubted her worth only to find it again only to doubt it again. A shadow of a once phenomenal woman. Though she’s lost, she’s more than what they know. Multifaceted feminine energy. Complex nuances devoured mindlessly. Vulnerability. Cut wide open.  Even friends can claim you as pray in a tender moment. STOP.  He apologized later. Doesn’t make it right. It’s a shame you cannot unfuck someone. Then there was a sweetheart, teddy bear made her smile when she was drowning. Should’ve kept it on the homie tip just riding bikes and laughing, doing karaoke. It was just so nice to have someone CLAIM her, be proud of her, want to be around her all the time. But nothing healed the ache. Nothing would erase him. If it weren’t for the Earth angels/ sisters/ girlfriends / heroes she might never have gotten up off the floor.. I feel ill. This has gotten ugly. I can’t blot out the things you’ve said. Your lenses don’t allow you to see my light. Partner or servant? Why do you withhold? Made to feel less than… I’m your whore that you no longer engage. Eternal rejection. I’m put on pause until it’s convenient for you to acknowledge. This is no life. This is not the love I dreamed of.

a lil puerto rican girl from the south

sometimes i don’t know when 2 shut my mouth

arroz con pollo and biscuits n gravy

sweet talking fiesty silly cutie sexy baby

yes or no but never feelin maybe

yes i’m insane, but it’s the good kind of crazy!

platanos and mac and cheese

open minded ready to get down to please

met this sexy brazilian to my heart he has the keys

did some ayahuasca now clearly i can see

there’s the truth vibrating in u and me

i believe in authenticity deeply

i know that u can reach the stars

talents from ur soul that’ll take u far

we all have means to channel the divine

fearlessness in the way we shine

i know it’s my destiny from my heart to sing songs

inspire the masses my whole life long

two roads diverged in a wood…

the universe gives us signs and they are everywhere… if we are open to receiving these signs… when i was deciding to fully pursue my dream of singing… i wrote a poem during this time of uncertainty that was inspired by Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken”… later on (the same day that i wrote the poem) i was reading a book by Paulo Coelho called “The Witch of Portobello” and the book referred to the main character pondering these same words of Frost… it was a sign for me to boldly take the risk and walk the road less traveled… some might call it a small coincidence (but i heard somewhere that coincidence’s are God’s way of remaining anonymous)… so not only do i encourage you to take the road less traveled but also to follow the signs that will lead you to a magnificent and beautiful adventure that is the fulfillment of your dreams…

i couldn’t find the poem i wrote but here are the words of poet Robert Frost:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

my life

i want my life to be poetry

that doesn’t rhyme

and free in form,

the words of my life-

elegant and vulgar,

the rhythm of the words dance

to music of my native land

with passion and fervor

singing a hymn of praise

to all that is sacred

poem for papa

I cut myself until it bleeds

descending the drain drip memories

the midnight blue u made her face

gently, slowly they wash away

her tears transformed from dark to clear

from your neglect my deepest fears

I knew too much little ones shouldn’t know

unnatural chaos so why’d it hurt when you’d go

a myriad of infidelity

as u created her insanity, it affected me…

as I searched for love outside myself

sanctioned by my sexuality

thought the boys found my beauty you could never see

working the pole to get my college degree

as you wouldn’t contribute to my dreams with your wealth

then history repeated itself

as his words of fury manifested to rampage

imprisoned for 2 years put myself in a cage

though I battled with continuing my life

I chose to surrender instead of to fight

liberated myself, to find who I am

and now I soar beyond the sun

and now I feel how we’re all one

and even when past issues creep up

I know my strength and truth, and I will overcome

now I can get through anything

even inspire others to live their dreams

and papa there’s no animosity

I give u love and I set u free

pink bike with a flower basket

“moments” is a song from M.U.S.I.C. that grew from a poem i wrote awhile ago when my love and i were first starting our relationship… it came out so organically… and one night when dre was playing his upright bass, i started singing the poem…

i lost myself inside your sex / subconscious desires that i suppressed / obsessed until i became possessed / thoughts in my head your soul undressed / in a craze for days / lost in this love maze / finally understood the deep purple haze / can’t count the ways your body gives me praise…

tonight i wanna get lost in u / find myself in the way u move / our love making will be your muse / i can feel your pain / and it’s the sweetest blues…

when the sun comes up / it’s my heart you’ve accrued, renewed, on it is your name tattooed/ they say with no attachment we can never lose / but it’s too late now / eternity together infused / with u  there’s nothing i can’t say or do / in the world of life vs. death / it’s a life in love i choose…

tonight i wanna get lost in u / find myself in the way u move / our love making will be your muse / i can feel your pain / and it’s the sweetest blues…

i love sharing lyrics- to me lyrics are just as important as the music in the creation of a song… and when we can take in the lyrics before hearing the music, it takes on new meaning when we eventually do hear the words combined with the melody, instrumentation, and arrangement… there’s also a little operatic part i sing in the background. Diana Booker lends her amazing vocals on the track for the bridge- she gives it some reggae flavor! the mixture of all of these elements makes “moments” very different, can’t wait for you to hear it!!!! it’s become one of my favorites on the album… “moments” of love are coming your way soooooooon (the mixing process has officially begun)!!!!!

moments of love
